A ProVital Physiotherapy Guide
Every year around this time, we see it.
A son or daughter books an appointment, not for themselves, but for their mum. She’s been complaining about her knee for months. Or years, actually. But it was only when her child finally insisted — “Ma, just go lah” — that she agreed to come in.
And when she sits down and we ask her, “So how long has this been bothering you?”
The answer is almost always something like: “Aiyo, quite long already. I just thought it was part of getting old.”
That’s the thing about mums. They’re so used to being the ones who hold everything together that they forget — or maybe never really learned how to ask for help.
We work with a lot of mothers here at ProVital Physio.
Young mums who are still recovering from childbirth, months later, wondering why their backs still hurt and their core feels non-existent. Working mums in their 40s and 50s who’ve been managing neck and shoulder tension for so long they’ve stopped noticing it. Grandmothers who are quietly losing their balance, quietly becoming afraid of stairs, quietly shrinking their world to avoid the risk of a fall.
They all have one thing in common: they waited too long to come in.
Physiotherapy isn’t just for athletes or people who’ve had accidents.
It’s for the woman who’s been carrying groceries, lifting grandchildren, hunching over her phone, and sleeping on the same tired mattress for twenty years. It’s for the mum who had a C-section and was told to “rest” but never really recovered her strength. It’s for the grandmother who used to walk to the morning market every day but now doesn’t because her knees hurt and she’s scared she’ll fall. These things are treatable. Not just “manage the pain” treatable. Actually, properly treatable.
At ProVital Physio Taman Desa, our approach has always been to treat the whole person, not just the symptom. We want to understand why you’re in pain, explain it clearly, and then work together on a plan that gives real, lasting results, not just temporary relief.
For mums, here’s what that can look like:
Women’s Health Physiotherapy Post-natal recovery, pelvic floor rehabilitation, and core rebuilding for mums whose bodies have never quite felt the same since having children. |
Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation For back pain, neck stiffness, aching joints — all the things that come from years of caregiving, lifting, and just life. We get to the root cause instead of just managing symptoms. |
Geriatric Wellness Programme Gentle, evidence-based care designed for older adults. Strength, balance, fall prevention — so Mum stays independent and confident in her own home. |
Home Physio For mums who find it hard to travel. Our physiotherapist comes to her. No fuss, no worrying about parking. |
So this Mother’s Day — alongside the flowers or gifts, consider booking her an professional physiotherapy appointment. Not because something is terribly wrong. But because she’s been putting herself last for a long time, and she deserves someone to actually look at how she’s doing. One session might be all it takes to find out there’s been a real solution all along.
She’s been there for everyone else.
Let us be there for her. ❤️
